Bicentennial Greenway
Jamestown Area
Bicentennial Greenway, when complete, will extend from City Lake Park in High Point to Guilford Courthouse National Military Park in Greensboro. The greenway was proposed in 1984, and the initial sections were funded by a 1988 bond referendum.

The greenway is a paved trail, generally 10 feet in width, that can be used by hikers, bikers, in-line skaters and equestrians. Parking is available at the Piedmont Environmental Center on Penny Road, Jamestown Park on East Fork Road, Gibson Park on Wendover Avenue, and a small lot on Piedmont Parkway. In addition there are paved connections to the greenway from Tarrant Road, Laurel Bluff Townhomes, Bank of America and Mendenhall Plantation.
The greenway's newest section is actually an extra-wide sidewalk that follows Chimney Rock Road and Boulder Road over I-40 north into Greensboro. To the south, the city of High Point is continuing to work on the High Point greenway, which will eventually join Bicentennial Greenway at the Environmental Center.
The Jamestown area part of the greenway is approximately eight miles in length. There are five additional miles of unpaved trails that connect with the greenway that are shown on the map. The side trails in the Piedmont Environmental Center are open to hikers only while the side trails in Gibson Park are open to hikers, mountain bikes and horseback riders.
